                            Caffeine-Friend or Foe?

State Representative & Speaker of the Michigan House of Representatives, Kevin Cotter was first elected in November 2010 to serve the citizens of the 99th House district. The 99th district encompasses all of Isabella County, as well as ten townships in Midland County.

 

Representative Cotter is a graduate of Shepherd High School and holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Entrepreneurship and Business Administration, as well as a Master’s of Science in Administration, both from Central Michigan University. He also earned a Juris Doctorate degree from Thomas M. Cooley Law School.

 

Representative Kevin Cotter brings a broad array of experience to the House of Representatives, most recently serving as a partner at the Kerr Law Firm, PLLC in downtown Mt. Pleasant. Prior to that, Cotter worked in the transportation industry, working with two companies where his duties included supervising in-bound shipments, human resources management and overseeing safety operations.

 

Cotter lives in Union Township with his wife Jennifer. In his spare time, he enjoys spending time in Michigan’s outdoors. He also enjoys golfing, snowmobiling, hunting, boating and spending time with friends and family

SMCB Member, Augustine L. Perrotta, DO will discuss the positive and negative effects of caffeine consumption on our health and well-being.

 

You will be given a hand-out listing the amount of caffeine in all the sources of caffeine in the US diet.

 

Time permitting, the mechanism of action and metabolism of caffeine in our different organs will be explored. Augie will recount a humorous anecdote about the most expensive coffee in the world from a scene in the film especially popular with seniors, “The Bucket List.”
