Discussion - Lisa Machesky, Executive Director, Oakland Literacy Council
Solving the Literacy Struggle in Oakland County

Lisa is Executive Director of the Oakland Literacy Council.

For more than thirty years the volunteer tutors of the Oakland Literacy Council have been helping adults born in the USA and born elsewhere improve their English language reading, writing, speaking and listening skills.  Many students have obtained better jobs, been able to read to their grandchildren and furthered their education because of the efforts of these dedicated volunteers.

Ms. Machesky has been leading nonprofits within Oakland County for over 15 years.

She, along with her husband Dan and two teenage children have lived in Birmingham for over 20 years and are members of St. James Episcopal Church.
