Dr. Sean Mc Alinden is Chief Economist & VP Strategic Studies at CAR (Center for Automotive Research) in Ann Arbor where he has been a Board Member since its inception in 2003 .

 

After gaining a Doctorate in Economics at U of M, he specialized in Manufacturing Economics before joining OSAT (Office for Study of Automotive Transportation) in 1989 where he became part of the team which established and expanded CAR.

 

Nationally recognized in the fields of Market Forecasting, Employment and Global Trade, he engages in research for Federal-and State-Departments, such as Commerce and Education . As a consultant to Industry and Labour , he is often quoted in the Media.

                            Criminal Law: A View from the Trenches

Steven Kaplan earned his B.A. from Oakland University and his J.D. from Detroit College of Law. He served for 25 years in the Macomb County Prosecutor's Office rising to be Chief of the Trial Division, Kaplan then moved to the Homicide Division of the Wayne County Prosecutor's Office.  He is now criminal defense attorney in private practice handling state and federal cases. 

 

Kaplan has published extensively on evidentiary and trial matters and has served the faculty at MSU's School of Law since 1997. 

 

Local broadcast media routinely call upon Kaplan to be an guest expert on high profile criminal matters.  He also speaks before conferences of prosecuting attorneys both at the state and national level.
