John McElroy is well known as host of “Autoline Daily”, the first Industry-Webcast of News and Analysis, is TV-host of "Autoline This Week”, featuring auto executives and journalists 

(see www.autoline.tv), broadcasts daily radio segments on WWJ 950 , writes Autoblog.com, and a monthly op-ed for Ward’s AutoWorld. 

 

His extensive background with the industry started with a plant tour at age 6. Reading every book he could find, led to a broad understanding of auto-engineering principles. His enthusiasm led to venturing into road racing and he gained insights to manufacturing as an hourly UAW employee in plants while earning a Bachelors Degree at Wayne State University.

 

As a journalist, McElroy built on his automotive background during five years as Detroit Editor for Road & Track and US correspondent for World Cars, published by Auto Club of Italy. He wrote the annual automotive segments for Encyclopedia Britannica Yearbook. A major part of his career was with Automotive Industries Magazine where he rose to Editorial Director.

 

McElroy has appeared on ABC, CBS, and NBC News and is often interviewed by CNN, NPR, and CBC.  He frequently meets with automakers, suppliers, and industry organizations.

He is a jury member of the North American Car and Truck of the Year Awards.
