Dr Tom Rifai is an expert in the areas of nutrition, healthy lifestyle based behavior modification and medical management of type 2 diabetes, dyslipidemia, hypertension and weight control. His unique and dynamic approach is one of "Healthy LIFESTYLE first! And medications only if necessary".

 

He received a BS from Michigan State University, an MD from Wayne State University School of Medicine, and completed his Internal Medicine Residency at William Beaumont Hospital, Royal Oak.

 

Rifai currently serves as Medical Director of Metabolic Nutrition and Weight Management for St Joseph Mercy Oakland hospital in Pontiac, Michigan, which offers the highest quality intensive lifestyle intervention program for the prevention of chronic disease in Michigan.

 

Tom is married to Angela. Their daughter Liliana was born in May 2015. He enjoys walking, biking, strength and flexibility exercise, travel, playing guitar and singing. He was formerly in a band that raised money for the medically needy during his years of medical training.
