Making History in the Motor City: What's New at the Detroit Historical Society

Rebecca Salminen Witt is Chief of Development and Communications for the Detroit Historical Society.  Witt previously served as the President of The Greening of Detroit, a non-profit organization devoted to promoting planting, environmental education, and environmental advocacy.  Before accepting that position, Witt was an attorney in private practice. 

 

She has played a leadership role in numerous local and national non-profit organizations.  Witt graduated from Michigan State University and Wayne State University Law School.  Witt is a Yooper, having grown up in Newberry.  She presently resides in Bloomfield Hills.

 

The Detroit Historical Society operates the Detroit Historical Museum and the Dossin Great Lakes Museum.  In the past few years, both museums have refurbished and expanded their exhibits, introduced technology upgrades, enlarged their educational offerings and enhanced the experience at both museums.
