                      State of the U.S. Auto Industry – Trends, Challenges, Key Players

Henry Payne is the Detroit News auto critic and a 25 year newspaper veteran. His auto column appears

weekly in the Detroit News as he reviews new vehicles and reports on interviews with top names in the

auto world.


Payne is also a Pulitzer Prize nominated cartoonist, producing five cartoons a week for United Feature Syndicate, including the Detroit News.


He will discuss the state of GM and Chrysler after their bankruptcies ,the future of autonomous cars,

the popularity of SUVs, auto startups Tesla and Alfa, plus the huge cost of meeting federal global warming

MPG mandates.

Discussion - Dr. Matthew Johnson - SMC Member
                            Safe Medication Use in Senior Men

SMC Member, Dr. Matt Johnson, will address the topic “Safe Medication Use in Senior Men.”


He will focus on what men need to know to get the most from their drug therapy while avoiding adverse effects. Matt will discuss the effects of aging on drugs, the “Beer’s List” and general tips on taking and handling medications.


Dr. Johnson earned his bachelor’s and Doctor of Pharmacy degrees from the U of M and practiced at the University of Michigan, Beaumont Health Systems and St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Chelsea.
