Timothy Slater, Special Agent in Charge, FBI

In February 2018, Timothy R. Slater was named as the Special Agent in Charge of the Detroit Division.  Mr. Slater most recently served as the Special Agent in Charge of the Criminal/Cyber Division at the Washington Field Office (WFO).


Mr. Slater entered on duty as a Special Agent in 1999.  He was first assigned to the Organized Crime and Violent Crime Task Force in Detroit.  Four years later, he transferred to the Flint Resident Agency, working all programs.  In 2006, he transferred to the Miami Division, Palm Beach Resident Agency, working all criminal programs.


In March 2007, Tim was promoted to Supervisory Special Agent at FBIHQ for the Criminal Investigative Division, Gang/Criminal Enterprise Section.


In 2008, he served as a Supervisory Senior Resident Agent in the Oklahoma City Division, overseeing four resident agencies covering 26 counties in the Eastern District of Oklahoma.  In 2010, Mr. Slater was promoted to Unit Chief at FBIHQ for the Critical Incident Response Group (CIRG), Investigative and Operations Support Section.


In 2013, Tim returned to the field as Assistant Special Agent in Charge of the Knoxville Division, managing all criminal and administrative programs.  Mr. Slater served as the Acting Special Agent in Charge from April 2014 to July 2014, in the Knoxville Division.  He was selected for Senior Executive Service in August 2014, as the Section Chief of the Surveillance and Aviation Section, CIRG.


In December 2015, He was designated Deputy Assistant Director of CIRG where he served until his designation as Special Agent in Charge, WFO.
